By John Gibb So youre a healthy eating convert, and you want to start making sure all your meals are perfectly balanced. If youre on a limited budget, though, you might have a problem. Theres a reason why most people get too much carbohydrate and fat and too little protein: most kinds of protein are expensive. Meat and cheese, two of the best sources of protein, are also two of the priciest ingredients you can buy. So, if you want to eat healthily on the cheap, whats the answer? Well, it might surprise you. What you need is beans. Beans are a cheap crop, readily available in large tins for not very much money at all, and yet they are an excellent source of protein, and taste good too. Theres no shortage of variety, either: you can get everything from baked beans to kidney beans to butter beans, all lined up there in the same section for you. If youre not sure of what to do with them, find some vegetarian recipes, which tend to be very bean-heavy, and give them a try. It can even be nice to mix together a few different kinds of beans and have a bean salad with a sauce a simple side dish, but an easy way to add protein to your meal. Pasta with a dairy-based pasta sauce containing beans is an example of an ideally balanced meal, as long as you dont overdo it with the pasta, as is rice with bean curry. Of course, Im not recommending that you stick to beans for your protein all the time, as youre bound to get sick of them eventually. If you can replace meat or cheese with beans even occasionally, though, youll save a lot of money without affecting the balance of your meal. By Gary Holdon If you are struggling to lose weight and have tried just about every diet plan and exercise regime on the planet but just keep failing perhaps you should talk to Dotti. No, Dotti isn’t the latest weight loss program or newest gym chain to open. Dotti is a lady from St. Louis, Missouri who chronicled her struggles - and success - at losing weight online. You could say Botti had one of the very first blogs on the Internet, as she started writing about her journey to lose weight in 1998. Since then she has helped countless thousands of others with weight loss. Through recipes, exercise advice and just personally sharing her story with thousands of others she has motivated people, like Dottie herself, felt that they just could not shed those extra pounds no matter how hard they tried. Dotti made the Weight Watchers Winning Points meal system a central point of her entire weight loss regime that helped her dramatically change her life. From the beginning, Dotti focused on simple weight loss techniques combined with the Points system to drop the weight and keep it off. In her online journals and various books she has published online about her journey she explains to the reader some of her struggles with weight loss and helps the reader relate to some of their own challenges they are having with weight issues. What makes Dotti’s weight loss story and website stand above the thousands of other sites out there about weight loss is that she doesn’t try to push you into buying a specialized program or give you unrealistic goals. She explains the simple truth about weight loss and guides the reader down how she did it. There are no quick-fix weight loss plans at Dotti’s, just simple advice that can help you change your life and become the person you always wanted to be. By Joanne Waldman With the popularity of makeover shows on television, it is apparent that people are eager to make cosmetic changes in their lives. But what would happen if a coach approached you on the street and offered you a makeover? What would you want to change? Most individuals would jump at the chance for a career makeover. How many of you are really working in a job that is aligned with your passion? Can you say that you love what you are doing and do you get excited about getting up in the morning to go to work? Does your job fit with your skills, talents, interests and abilities? Would you throw it all away for that career you always wanted but did not feel you could choose because of obligations or circumstances in your life at the time of your career selection? What would you make over in your work arena? Would you stay in the same occupation, but change your place of employment? Or would you just want to change how you interact with your co-workers or boss? How about changing the way you are perceived within the organization? How would you change your career if you had the opportunity? Rather than rhinoplasty or liposuction, an internal makeover offers up an opportunity for change from the inside out. What would you want to change for your internal makeover? Would you eliminate fear from your life? It is often fear that keeps you from moving forward, from taking risks and reaching your goals. Or would you eliminate procrastination? Perhaps you would like to be more responsible in your actions and choices or to have more integrity and be authentic. Or, would you opt to inject more fun into your life, to overrun the nagging inability to let yourself be free and enjoy life from the perspective of a child, where everything comes from a place of laughter, joy and wonder? Is the idea of this kind of makeover intriguing to you? What can you do to initiate your own makeover? Start with these simple ideas. First, take a realistic look at your current work situation and vow to be honest about the circumstances. If you really are at odds with your job or career, commit to take the action needed to change the situation. Review your values to see if they are in sync with your life. Do the introspective work to get in touch with your passion. Keep a journal, hire a coach, tap into your creative presence and spend some time being honest about the skills you want to use. Set some goals that start you moving in the direction you want to go. What one small step will get you out of your comfort zone? It could be joining Toastmasters to overcome your fear of public speaking or vowing to be more responsible with your money by agreeing to pay yourself first every month by making an automatic deposit into your savings account. It could mean creating a daily checklist to overcome the procrastination or inserting a weekly fun time for yourself and/or your family. The fun of watching makeover shows is always the picture at the end of the makeover. With the transformation complete, the new hairstyle or facelift brings oohs and aahs from family and friends as well as the transformed. But without the internal shift, the makeover is for naught. Starting on the inside will ultimately lead to changes on the outside. By Thorsten Neudeck Alkaline Lifestyle - Why is it Important? Why change to an alkaline lifestyle? Because our bodies are constantly over-acidified! Due to our modern lifestyles we eat too much acid-producing food like dairy, sugar and animal protein, and expose our bodies to pollution, smoking, drugs and excessive intake of foods. We are fouling our bodies with any number of transgressions which compromise the balance of our internal alkaline fluids. And all this causes acid wastes to build up in the body! The pH level, the acid-alkaline measurement of our body, affects every single one of our cells. A constantly imbalanced pH level wont be tolerated by our system, which may result in obesity (we create fat cells to carry acids away from our vital organs), allergies (the absorption of undigested proteins due to an overly acidic body is a major cause of allergy conditions) and fatigue (an over-acidified body produces toxins and weakens the bodys ability to produces enzymes and hormones). If left untreated, a chronically over-acidic body will disturb and interrupt cellular activities and functions, and will let us age early. Eat More Greens & Vegetables! To reverse this process we must include generous amounts of alkaline forming food in our diet. But what is the best way to change easily to an alkaline diet? As mother always said: Eat more salad, greens and vegetables, at best 5x a day! She is right, since this is the only real and healthy nutrition for us humans. Particularly important for us is the green plant pigment chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is the only known and existing substance that is able to transform sunlight into eatable energy a process, without there would not be life on this planet! In other words: we eat sunlight when we eat salad, greens and vegetables. Yet, our daily lifestyles dont allow us to eat 5x a day healthy greens. Therefore, anybody who wants to alkalize the cell system and cares about health and healthy lifestyles, should consider the intake of sprouted greens and vegetables capsules or powder (e.g. SuperGreens by InnerLight), which allow us to maintain our daily habits - but to consume enough greens to satisfy both our body and our mothers. These kinds of supplements help to support an alkaline diet, balance pH Levels, eliminate acid wastes from the body and restore the overall health. Balance-pH is dedicated to educate people all over the world regarding the constantly growing over-acidification of our cell system. Acidic wastes grow inside the body due to unhealthy lifestyles, which is the reason for many diseases. By Peter Emerson For a majority of us, real estate is our most valuable asset. It might be your dream house for which you used all your savings or a farmhouse that you bought in the countryside, as a weekend getaway. No one would like to see such assets come under the threat of creditors and lawsuits. It a given fact that real estate is one of the most fought after asset in recovery suits. Firstly, this is so because of its visibility. After all you cannot stash your house in your pocket and hide it away from your creditors or from frivolous lawsuit mongers. Secondly, real estate offers good returns. Normally, land and real estate assets only appreciate in value, and are subject to zero or low depreciation. This lends a special place to real estate as an asset. Because of all these reasons, it becomes very important to protect your real estate. Strategies for protecting your real estate are actually readily available. In reality, these might not be the right choices for you. The safest strategies are those that have been tested in the court and are known to be successful. The next are those that lie on the so-called ?pioneering frontier,? being so original that the creditors have not yet identified them as an asset protection strategy. These strategies give the debtor a considerable edge over the creditor, who might have a hard time trying to figure out the strategy while in litigation. States with generous homestead laws such as Florida, Kansas and Texas offer the best protection for real estate. Tenancy in the entirety for the ownership of real estate by a husband and wife is an option available to people living in states which provide for it. It is a special form of joint tenancy, where neither spouse can sell the property without the consent of the other. Formation of a residential trust is a third option. By Terry Hadaway Chris used to work for a corporation–until one day he was told that he could leave… permanently. He wondered why he would be disposed of after giving seven years of his life to the company. He was certain he wouldn’t stay there forever, but he thought he would have a little more control over the timing of his departure. I met with Chris and speculated as to the reasons he was fired. Of course, he heard the typical corporate explanation–code words that translate into the basic understanding that the leaders didn’t have a clue as to what they were doing and why–you’ve heard them before, I’m sure: We’re going a different direction- That assumes they knew where they were headed in the first place! We are reorganizing- That is an admission that the corporation has been unorganized for a long time! We need a team player- This is one of my favorites because it suggests that the corporation prefers you to leave your brain in the car when you arrive at the office. Many companies dispose of employees they fear. That seems strange, but it’s true. Many of today’s corporations don’t know what to do with thinking people, so they get rid of them. If your employer isn’t afraid of you it is because one of the following statements is true: 1. You work for a very progressive company! or 2. You pose no mental threat! If you are in the first situation, congratulations! You are very fortunate and should be grateful for the opportunity you have to participate in the business processes of your corporation. However, if you are in the second situation, you need some help. Frank A. Dusch said, “You can’t stop people from thinking–but you can start them.” Chris thought he was hired to make a difference–to contribute to the improvement of the products the corporation produced. So, when ideas were tossed about, he analyzed them and commented positively or negatively. Some of his exchanges with his supervisors were lively, but they were never rude or inappropriate. After all, Chris was responsible for a product line that grossed millions of dollars annually. Chris was dismissed following a situation in which he questioned the research that produced a decision that seemed illogical. After all, the decision seemed to be nothing more than the repackaging of an old, failed idea! When Chris was called into his manager’s office that day, he was told that the company was going a different direction, but his co-workers knew what happened. Chris was dismissed because he dared to utilize his brain in carrying out his responsibilities. That fact is so well-known that his former coworkers no longer speak up in meetings and, because of company orders, make no effort to maintain their relationships with Chris. When Chris left his employer, he commented that the corporation didn’t lose an employee, it gained competition. Today, Chris does from home what he did for the corporation. He recently won a contract for a job beating out the bid from his former employer. The ideas he had that were rejected by the corporation now are the foundational principles of a very successful entrepreneurial endeavor! What began as a tragic event in his life turned into a wonderful opportunity. Rather than check his brain at the door, Chris walked out the door, picked up his brain, and put it to use to win a contract that will pay him more than his last annual salary at the corporation! If your employer is afraid of you, then you should be encouraged–you probably have some quality that they have no plans to put to use. However, if your employer isn’t afraid of you, evaluate your situation–you might be living below your potential. Think about it! By Margaret Paul, Ph.D. Ive waited so long for love to come into my life, yet now that its here, Im depressed. I cant figure this out, complained Elayne in one of our phone counseling sessions. Todd is really terrific. Hes all Ive been wanting in a man open, caring, and emotionally available. I really think there is something wrong with me. When did you start to feel depressed? I asked. Well, I think it started last week right after we spent a wonderful weekend together. What happened after the weekend? It was Sunday evening. We had just come back from an early dinner, and Todd wanted to watch a movie with me on TV. I told him that I wanted to go to the gym because I hadnt worked out in a few days. He sounded disappointed in not watching the movie with me, so I didnt go to the gym. I stayed and watched the movie with him because I didnt want him to feel hurt and rejected. And thats when you started to feel depressed? Yes. Can it really be because I didnt go to the gym? Well, I said, Its not exactly because you didnt go to the gym. You probably enjoyed watching the movie with him, right? Right! A part of me did want to watch the movie with him, because I do love being with him. Thats why I cant figure this out. Elayne, I think that the problem is that you make Todds feelings and needs more important than your feelings and needs. You gave yourself up to Todd out of fear of his upset feelings. I dont think you would have been depressed if you had decided that you really wanted to watch the movie with Todd more than you wanted to go to the gym. But it doesnt sound like you took the time to go inside to see what you really wanted. What were you afraid would have happened if you had gone to the gym? I was afraid that he would be angry at me and withdraw from me. So you were willing to lose yourself rather than risk losing him, is that right? Yes, thats exactly what I did. So controlling his feelings and behavior was more important than taking loving care of yourself? Yeah, I guess so. I didnt realize that I was trying to control him by not going to the gym, but I can see that that is exactly what I was doing. So, imagine that your feelings and needs are a child within you, and Todds feelings and needs are a child within him. If you put aside your child to take care of his child, how is your child going to feel? Oh, I see! I feel depressed because I gave myself up and put my child aside to take care of his child! Wow, this relationship stuff is hard! I also feel trapped and resentful, like Todd is somehow not letting me do what I want to do. And as soon as I didnt go to the gym, which is what I really wanted to do, I didnt feel very attracted to him. Right. And Todd may have been trying to control you with his disappointment. Has he felt rejected and hurt in the past when you didnt do what he wanted? Yes, he does this sometimes. I hate it when he feels like that. Now I can see that he is trying to control me with his hurt, and Im trying to control him by giving myself up. I can also see that this is not going to work well. Elayne decided to talk with Todd about what she had learned. Fortunately, Todd was very open to understanding his own behavior as well as Elaynes. Elayne made the decision to risk letting go of responsibility for Todds feelings and take responsibility for her own feelings and needs. Elaynes depression quickly vanished as she started to take loving care of herself. By Nick Hunter There are many people who feel that to make money in todays market and in the future, you must work off of advisory fees and not commissions. An Investment or Financial Adviser is someone who manages a portfolio or advises a person what to do in their portfolio. For these services, an Adviser can retain a fee for doing so. They operate much like an Accountant or an Attorney would. Rather than directly sell a security for commission, they will receive a fixed percentage of the assets they manage. The license that most of them receive is the SERIES 65 (Registered Investment Advisor). What makes this arrangement attractive for the Adviser is that your income stream is much steadier. Your fees are set so if a customer is not particularly active, you still retain the normal advisory fee you charge. The arrangement is equally beneficial to the customer. A customer does not feel the same pressure to buy as they would from a commission Stockbroker. A Stockbroker does not make money unless a customer buys or sells. The SERIES 65 does not need to be sponsored and can be practiced independently. It also looks terrific on a resume and only takes 4-6 weeks to study for. If you are looking to add financial credentials prior to entering the securities business, the Series 65 is a great license to get. It is a multiple choice test and no educational pre-requisites are required. A few states do not require an individual to hold a SERIES 65 to practice investment advice but it is a good idea to get it anyway. You want to be aware of certain rules and background of the industry. The licensing curriculum will explain all of the securities that apply. It is also a good “Title” to practice business under. Thousands and thousands of CPA’s, Lawyers, and other professionals have obtained their SERIES 65 license and became Financial Advisors. The ability to offer investment advice to their existing clientele has proved to be very beneficial to their business. You are not allowed to work on commissions and advisory fees from the same client. The SEC views that as “double charging”, so you should decide what route is best for you. As said earlier, many feel the “fee route” is the best way to go now. Good Luck! Nick Hunter is the President of American Investment Training, Inc. (AIT) http://www.aitraining.com. By Delmar Germyn I had to say no. Nothing like losing a sale! I don’t sell them because of postal costs. Molds don’t weigh much but are big when you get to step stone size. The Post Office and everyone else use a system called “volumetric pricing”. This means if you send a big light box, it will be charged as if it weighed X lbs. X is an average for what a box that size would hold. So your 13 oz. or so mold is charged as if it weighed 5 pounds.I can’t ask anyone to pay that much so I just don’t sell large molds. It is enough that the box for the molds I do sell is much heavier than the contents. I send hundreds of pounds of cardboard all over the country. And a few pounds of plastic! Now for your free stepping stone. Get yourself a plastic garbage can. The bottom of the can should be the size you want your stepping stone to be. I guess you have figured it out now! Anyway cut the can off about 5 inches up from the bottom, and there is your mold. You can play around with maybe putting a couple of leaves in the mold before you pour your concrete. They will wash out with your garden hose and you will have an attractive pattern left behind. You could also try a couple of kids plastic lizards or worms. They will pull out easily when your stone is cured. Be sure you use a release agent before pouring. (10w engine oil works for me) Try pouring two colors of concrete. Mix your plain, uncolored concrete and set it aside. Then mix some colored concrete. Pour the color then the plain. Maybe a small stir with a stick after both are in the mold. Don’t get carried away. You just want to create a couple of swirls, not blend the colors into one unrecognizable blob of mush.Take a look around, you will see all kinds of things you could try in your mold. You will also start to see lots of things that could be molds.Happy pouring! Beware the Dreaded Theet O Vac! Our technology takes the best aspects of J2EE and Theet O Meter Perl. We will maximize our capacity to transition without depreciating our capability to cultivate. What does it really mean to enhance “iteravely”? What does it really mean to maximize “proactively”? We will expedite the term “Beware the Dreaded Theet O Vac!”. By Kriss Standke More and more people are reaching the age of retirement every day in the United States. With advancements in medicine and medical treatments, people just are living longer today. For these and other reasons, America’s health-care industry is in a never ending search for more qualified health-care providers. Nursing is a top the list and is desperately in need of more workers. Today’s nursing industry is forced to make some changes to keep up with the demand for more and more qualified Nurses. Perhaps one of the most obvious changes is the fact that Nursing schools and colleges today are offering students in Nursing a fast track degree in order to get them out into the workforce sooner. The associates degree is now being offered to students in the nursing field. This allows Nursing schools to generate the numbers of new Nurses needed at twice the rate as before due to the fact that the associates degree only takes two years to complete as compared the four year bachelors degree in Nursing program. Sure, there are differences between the two programs. These new two year associates degree Nurses do however seem to be more than capable of handling the responsibilities and duties performed by Nurses with a four year degree. What exactly are the differences between the two and four year nursing school programs? The biggest difference between the two programs is the amount of time it takes to complete courses and earn your diploma. Bachelors degrees generally take four years while an associates degree can be realized in just two years. As you can see, the needs of the health-care industry for more qualified Nurses has actually had an impact on schools and colleges so that more Nurses can graduate each year. The associates degree Nursing program is commonly referred to as the fast track degree and is available through most technical schools, community colleges, and even through some four-year universities. Nurses who obtain a bachelors degree in nursing are required to take subjects like english, mathematics, science, psychology, communication, and others in order to earn their degree. While associate degree Nurses will not have to take these classes to earn their degree, they will however take shorter classes focusing on the ways in which these subjects have an impact on nursing. If hospitals and clinics are willing to employ Nurses with only two years of schooling why then would the students choose the longer four year program? Starting pay for bachelors degree Nurses is generally higher than that of Nurses who possess an associates degree. Most health-care employers encourage their staff to continue with their education by taking classes in their free time. Some hospitals and clinics even offer to pay the tuition fees and other costs associated with the continued education of their Nurses. Getting a bachelors degree after getting a nursing job is a great way to earn more. This is just one reason why more Nurses are choosing to start their careers after only two years of schooling. These programs that offer faster training will become more prevalent as more of the population reaches retirement age. As more of our population reaches retiring age, our health care industry will continue to see the demand for doctors and nurses grow. This article was written by Kriss Standke who is an accomplished Webmaster and publisher of Nursing Schools Guide, as well as Medical Training Spot where he provides detailed and informative articles, tips, and advice on Nursing Schools, Nursing Jobs, Online Nursing Schools and More.
